Kmart to close 64 stores this spring, including one in Cabot

The closing store list includes 64 Kmart locations and 39 Sears locations, according to a Business Insider report. No Sears stores in MI are included in the latest round of shutdowns, which will take place between early March and April. "Eligible associates will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores".

SEARS Holdings declined to say how many employees will lose their jobs.

During the most recent closings, the company shuttered Kmarts in Whitehall and South Whitehall Townships. The company intends to close approximately 19 additional stores as leases or operating covenants expire or sales transactions are completed.

"We've anticipated this is going to be happening for a while", she said. Management at the mall has some possible names narrowed down, Boggs said, but she wouldn't disclose any.
