Xbox's Game Pass now lets you play brand-new Microsoft published games

Microsoft has several exclusive first-party games in the pipeline this year including Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2, and all of them will be available via Xbox Games Pass on launch day.

Microsoft is about to shake-up the way video games are sold, as the Game Pass subscription service starts to offer brand new games the day they're released. Xbox Game Pass launched in June with more than 100 titles in its library and has added more than 70 games since then, from both the Xbox One and Xbox 360's back catalog. Here's the official announcement, "Today, we're excited to announce plans for a major expansion to Xbox Game Pass that underscores our commitment to deliver our fans the ultimate gaming subscription service".

With 40 per cent more power than any other consoles, "Xbox One X" is where console gamers can play the best versions of games, the tech giant said.

Microsoft also announced a new payment plan that will allow subscribers to pay for six months upfront for $59.99 in March. Spencer declined to discuss the financial impact of switching from pricier, one-time purchases of Xbox games to a smaller monthly fee, except to say he's "comfortable with the economics".

The rapper has also talked openly about having an addiction to lean, which may have contributed to his health issues. Last year September, he publicly ridiculed fellow rapper Russ speaking out against the rampant drug use in hip hop.

Sea of Thieves will launch on March 20, with a closed beta going live tomorrow for those who pre-ordered the game.

Spencer also sees players already using Game Pass as a discovery mechanism for slightly older games, a phenomenon that bringing brand new games to the service at launch should increase.

We've only scratched the surface of the opportunity this new model brings to the industry and what we can deliver to our fans. The price isn't exactly cheap and it makes the device a bit more expensive than Sony's PS4 Pro which costs for Rs 32,000. This means you will be able to play the latest Gears of War, Halo and Forza all on your Xbox One with the Xbox Game Pass.

That Game Pass itself is not a streaming service - you have to download the games to play them - but that's purely because of the current limitations of broadband infrastructure.
