Rapture is the name of the upcoming show that "dives into the artists' lives with their families and friends, to sitting front row in the studio and grinding on tour, to experiencing the ecstatic power of moving the crowd", according to a press statement. That sort of reckoning with the American art form that has become a worldwide phenomenon looks like it's going to be par for the course for this series, so all hip hop heads better show up to represent.
Directors for the series include Sacha Jenkins, Ben Selkow, Geeta Gandbhir, Steven Caple Jr., Gabriel Noble, and Marcus A. Clarke.
So begins the teaser trailer for Netflix's Rapture, a new documentary miniseries seeking to tell the truth about hip-hop. "Today, rap music is the heartbeat of Mother Earth, and Netflix is the embodiment of the eyes from which she sees", said Sacha Jenkins of Mass Appeal. "We've been telling hip hop stories since '96, and as natives we feel it is our duty to do the movement justice". It will be executive produced by Jenkins, Selkow, Peter Brittenbender, Ben Cotner, Zana Lawrence and Lisa Nishimure.
