Mitsubishi recalls 227K vehicles in U.S. due to loose sunroofs, brakes

The recall covers Outlander SUVs from 2008 through 2012, Outlander Sport SUVs from 2011 through 2012, Lancer cars from 2009 through 2012 and Lancer Sportbacks from 2010 through 2012.

Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors announced to recall almost 227,000 vehicles in the USA market as loose glass sunroofs can fly off and parking brakes may fail, local media reported on Friday.

The second recall covers more than 170,000 vehicles including Outlanders from the 2014 through 2016 model years, and Outlander Sports from the 2013 through 2016 model years.

To fix the problem, Mitsubishi will notify owners of the affected vehicles to bring them into their local dealerships to have the belt tensioner replaced with an improved version.

The recalls for sunroofs and parking brakes both start from March 27 this year.
