Police say a MA woman stabbed her two young children to death and then asked a neighbor to call 911, in what prosecutors call a "heartbreaking crime".
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz told reporters during a news conference Monday that she made statements "that can be construed as admissions" to the alleged killings, according to the Boston Herald.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
A city official told 7News Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter's office sent out a robocall at around 12:50 p.m.to city council members confirming the stabbing deaths of two children.
The Globe reports Sanders told investigators the deaths were part of "voodoo stuff" but Cruz told reporters it was unclear if she was motivated by religious beliefs or some type of ritual. He said the two brothers were pronounced dead at the scene, sparking a homicide investigation.
Authorities say 43-year-old Latarsha Sanders told police she attacked her 8-year-old son with a kitchen knife as part of a ritual but failed, and so she attacked her 5-year-old son. Lalli, a grandfather who has lived on the same block for 40 years, said Sanders didn't appear to work and stayed mostly to her herself inside the Prospect Street apartment building. "Two kids, they can't fight back".
"I heard the news and it just broke my heart".
Sanders is slated to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Brockton District Court.
