Apple brings 'performance management feature' to iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus

If you have purchased the iPhone X, you do not have to worry about Apple throttling its performance as its battery gets older. On top of that, users with iPhone slowdowns will be given the choice to disable throttling so that they can run their iPhone at maximum performance.

Meanwhile, starting with the second beta of iOS 11.3, Apple has launched a new "Battery Health" feature, which will provide users with more information about the state of their battery and whether or not it is impacting device performance, reported.

If your device has experienced a shutdown due to battery degradation - which could happen with a given battery health of as high as 95 percent - the page will tell you that "performance management has been applied to prevent this from happening again" along with the option to disable the throttling.

Screenshots of the new battery health feature are posted below.

It was recently discovered with new software updates, older iPhones begin slowing down. And, in the case of hot temperature, the performance management ensures that the device stays within safety limits. However, as the battery gets old, its peak performance will drop. The affected iPhone 7 smartphones were sold in five regions namely, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, and the U.S. This update of the iPhone was manufactured between September 2016 and February 2018.

Lexington Realty Trust (NYSE:LXP) Institutional Investor Positioning Change
In the past 52-week period, shares of Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE:VNO) have moved within the range of $70.01 to $90.29. The Mitsubishi Ufj Trust & Banking Corp holds 614,309 shares with $72.69 million value, up from 437,650 last quarter.

These were different options that you'll see in iOS 11.3's Battery Health feature. However, the user was never informed properly of what is going on and why their iPhone has suddenly slowed down in performance and responsiveness.

Also mentioned is that the iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 have "more advanced hardware and software design", giving more accurate estimation of the power used and the battery spent on it to make the system efficient. If an unexpected shutdown occurs again, then performance management will increase. Apple's battery health feature will display this message: "Your battery is now supporting normal peak performance".

As per Apple, iOS 11.3 will be able to periodically assess the level of performance and the management needed to avoid shutdowns. These phones might not even employ processing slowdown as their batteries age because of the hardware updates inside that allow for better performance management. Once you disable the performance throttling, it'll stay disabled unless you suffer a shutdown.

The first issue of this kind was reported back in November 2017, when one of the users of iPhone X complained on Reddit about the smartphone's display turning unresponsive in cold weather.
