European Union seeks clarity on whether it will be hit by United States tariffs

Earlier on Thursday, Trump signed into law newsteel and aluminum tariffs. (ASA) said soybeans are a prime target for retaliation, given the crop's prominent role in agricultural trade.

Video games have been linked to real-world violence, U.S. President Donald Trump told gaming industry leaders in a meeting on Thursday after a school shooting last month reignited a national debate over guns. And we know this because other countries have proven it to be true.

NAFTZ and its members have been strong supporters of the NAFTA and believe it has been an important factor in making USA manufacturing more globally competitive, supporting high-value-added employment in the United States, expanding export markets for US products and services, promoting efficient supply and value chains, and improving standards of living.

Beyond imposing retaliatory tariffs on USA goods, the EU is prepared to file a case at the World Trade Organization against the Trump administration in cooperation with other countries and to introduce "safeguard" measures to prevent steel shipments from other parts of the world to America from being diverted to the European market and flooding it. America's rural voters are watching and listening to President Trump.

Trump said at a press conference this week that he likes "conflict", and certainly there was some of that internally on the tariffs. "Now that he's out, the question is who takes over that mantle", said financial firm Capital Alpha Partners analyst Ian Katz in a late research note.

European industry associations called on Malmstrom to react to the tariffs.

Aid convoy delivers food in Syria's Eastern Ghouta
The convoy entered during a brief lull but the bombardment and fighting resumed after the convoy entered Eastern Ghouta. The war monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, on Friday gave a death toll of 940 civilians in the campaign.

The European Commission had already warned on Wednesday that if the United States went ahead with its plan, it would retaliate with increased tariffs on American goods such as Bourbon whiskey, Levis jeans, Florida orange juice and peanut butter.

EU commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom, who earlier this week warned of a multi-billion-euro list of reprisal tariffs, tweeted last night: "The EU is a close ally of the USA and we continue to be of the view that the EU should be excluded from these measures".

"Canada is not one of the countries cheating and is not contributing to the decimation of US production". Malmstrom said she would be meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer in Brussels on Saturday.

The EU executive said it remained unclear how an exclusion would work. Gesturing to the workers, Trump said part of the reason he's in the White House was "because of you and my message having to do with you". In a tweet, he said the " acting swiftly on Intellectual Property theft". It's hard to see how the conclusion of a new NAFTA deal would alter the security situation, suggesting the president's linkage between an exception for Canada and Mexico and the conclusion of a renegotiated NAFTA agreement has little to do with national security and more to do with leverage and protectionism.

National Economic Adviser Gary Cohn on Tuesday joined White House Communications Director Hope Hicks in announcing his departure. Recent weeks have seen other departures and negative news stories that have left Trump increasingly isolated, according to senior officials speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal discussions.
