Jordan Poole's got history with buzzer-beaters

The No. 3 Wolverines face No. 2 North Carolina or No. 7 Texas A&M on Thursday in the Sweet 16 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The combination of a 10-day layoff, a late tipoff and shot clock issues made for a sloppy game between MI and Montana, but in the end, MI survived. That's when the impossible started to happen, Davis missed both free throws and the ball fell right into Moritz Wagner's arms.

He was also responsible for one of eight made triples for MI, on 30 total attempts from downtown.

A layup from Abdur-Rahkman rimmed out, as did a great tip-in effort from Matthews, and Davis went back to the line with 26 seconds left. Houston missed two free throws on the other end of the court to lead to Poole's game-winner.

The third-seeded Michigan Wolverines needed a miracle to survive an upset bid from No. 6 seed Houston, and freshman Jordan Poole delivered.

Four players are averaging at least 9.8 points per game for Houston, they are Rob Gray (18.5), Corey Davis Jr. Davis pulled down a crucial rebound, and then stalked to the foul line.

The starting big man played just 23 minutes due to foul trouble, but still managed 12 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

MI senior guard Duncan Robinson led them nine points off the bench in the first half, while Houston kept most of Michigan's starters contained.

Tim Hardaway Jr., who played for the Wolverines in college and helped MI reach the tournament's title game in 2013, reacted just as how you would expect him following Poole's dagger three. With less than four seconds remaining, MI trailed 63-61 with the ball.

Robinson finally ended the drought with a long triple at the 14:25 mark and gave U-M its first lead moments later with another triple off a curl screen.

The score was even at 28 at the end of the first half.
