"We've been listening closely to our community, and we know how keen they are to hear how we plan to grow Sea of Thieves", Rare executive producer Joe Neate said. The Hungering Deep will be a permanent fixture in the game, with new mechanics and rewards, but will kick off with a timed event that Rare plans to start teasing soon.
It will also introduce a number of new mechanics to aid players taking part in the adventure, and of course, there will be new rewards. Some new mechanics will be added and unique rewards for completing the event are incoming.
The first content update is set to arrive in early May 2018 and is called "The Hungering Deep.' This content pack brings a new threat to Sea of Thieves" world that players will need to work together to fight.
The Hungering Deep, the game's first content update, will be released in May along with a new AI threat and event.
Paul Ryan hints at whom he'd back to replace him as speaker
The party is already facing an uphill battle to retain control of the House of Representatives . On Thursday, Ryan dismissed any chatter that maybe it would be best if he stepped aside early.
Rare says that the first content update for Sea of Thieves will be called The Hungering Deep, bringing a unsafe new AI threat to the seas that will force crews to work together. The former will introduce a new ship type, the latter will introduce a new part of the world with new AI threats unique to that area of the world. The other two content updates will be Cursed Sails, which will include a new ship type for our very own TL;DR Coxswain to sail, and Forsaken Shores.
Rare also promises general updates to keep the sailing smooth and the piracy appropriately perilous, and until the new content updates it will be focused on enriching the world, adding new ways to play and to have fun with your crew.
Rare is also deprioritizing the development of some previously announced features: pets, which will let players own parrots, cats and monkeys; and ship captaincy, a system that would allow legendary pirates to become captains of customizable ships. "Expect our plans to continue to be fluid but always with the goals listed above as our guiding principles", the update read.
