It looks like Star Trek is about to boldly go in a brand-new direction. It still remains to be seen how the films will handle the role of Chekov following actor Anton Yelchin's death.

Paramount announced at CinemaCon that it planned to produce a fourth Star Trek film in its reboot series. Paramount revealed footage from Mission Impossible: Fallout and the Transformers spin-off film Bumblebee (starring John Cena, Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon). There are reportedly a few different Trek tales getting made - one of which is the time-traveling tale where Jim meets his father (played by Chris Hemsworth) and another based on an idea from Quentin Tarantino. The script comes from J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who were both who were both uncredited writers on Star Trek: Beyond. The three most recent films were directed by J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness") and Justin Lin ("Star Trek Beyond").

"If you told me five years ago that an nearly silent film starring the very amusing guy Jim from The Office would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, 'Well, I should go work at Paramount, '" said Gianopulos, who joined the studio a year ago. Quentin is off doing another movie. "I don't know what's going to happen".
