Lewis Hamilton has taken the lead of the world championship after winning a dramatic Azerbaijan GP.

The length of the Baku track, where teams compete for the championship, each represented by two drivers, is just over six kilometers. It would be hard to replicate the fireworks of previous year, but could we see another thriller in Baku this time around? He finished fifth on both occasions.

In that run, Ferrari made errors and Red Bull was not a serious threat.

He added: "The others have definitely stepped up". It's always easier to catch up but to be pioneering, which we have been for the last four years, has been exceptional. "It's a human reaction", Vettel said at the time. "Actually, lots of places where you can pass", said the Aussie Champagne Shoey. "Whoever gets all the small issues right will be out in front". That makes it crucial to find the right degree of downforce to produce enough speed but also grip in the slower corners.

The two drivers continued to battle it out for the world championship for the remainder of the season - which Hamilton claimed the fourth of his career.

Having won his fourth championship a year ago, the Mercedes driver has been off the pace.

The first part of his season has historically never been a strong suit for Hamilton, and whilst a nine-point lead for Vettel at this stage, the competition for points appears to be stronger this season.

Besides the tendency of Verstappen to collide with his rivals, Red Bull is also struggling to match Ferrari's qualifying pace.

Will the strategy prowess of Red Bull Racing show itself in Baku again and is that enough for the Milton Keynes-based outfit to keep Ricciardo past the end of this season despite issuing the Australian a contract ultimatum?

However, Sunday's race was a good day for the Williams team thanks to Stroll for finishing in eighth place to collect the team's first points of the season. Speed is crucial in Baku - and Williams doesn't have the pace.

The race past year was punctuated by the German-British set-to where under safety protocols, Hamilton was accused of "break testing" on a corner - claims which were proven false, which the German retaliated by passing the Brit and bashing into the side of his vehicle.
