Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu says the charge is for one count of assault, and provided no further details. "According to a police report [he] has been charged with assault and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, June 18, 2018".
In the meantime, Major League Baseball has put Osuna on administration leave.
In a statement to the Canadian Press, Major League Baseball said the league "takes all allegations of this nature very seriously".
The league said it was investigating the circumstances of the charges in accordance with the joint domestic violence policy between the league and the MLB Players Association.
Details of the alleged incident weren't immediately known. The standout relief pitcher was allegedly charged with assaulting a woman. All we can determine is that the incident likely occurred late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
The Blue Jays released a statement of their own on Tuesday.
