The jury is the American people.

We thought that President Trump had exhausted every angle to attack Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's 2016 election meddling.

In a separate television appearance, Giuliani said Trump was "adamant" about wanting to agree to an interview, saying, "If he wasn't thinking about it and it wasn't an active possibility, we would be finished with that by now and we would have moved on to getting the investigation over with another way".

Giuliani said. "They're not civil servants as far as I know".

The idea that something is a "perjury trap" is a term Trump's legal team has been throwing around for weeks, claiming that Mueller simply wants to set Trump up to lie. "Democrats I would suggest for their own self interest, this is not a good issue to go into the midterms".

Giuliani also raised the specter of a protracted legal fight over the question of a Trump interview if Mueller decided to seek a subpoena.

But what Democrats describe as a blunt and concerted effort by the president to delegitimize the Mueller inquiry may be having an effect, to judge by recent polls.

It'd be a political death wish, something Rubio wouldn't dare do unless he'd already resolved not to run again for reelection or for president.

"We're more convinced as we see it that this is a rigged investigation", Rudy Giuliani said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Nation". That would explain his surprise admission last night about Trump reimbursing Michael Cohen for the Stormy Daniels payment. If an interview is to take place, however, the lawyer suggested Mueller's team "would probably limit it" to two key topics: potential collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice. Trump said on Twitter Sunday morning. On Sunday, Trump fired off two tweets that decried the Mueller probe as a "rigged investigation" and complained about "the young and beautiful lives (and others) that have been devastated and destroyed by the phony Russia Collusion Witch Hunt", although it was unclear whose lives the tweet was in reference to.

Trump has recently accused the FBI of using an informant to spy on his 2016 presidential campaign, though no evidence has emerged to support the president's assertion. "He is the most political CIA director I have ever met".

"The whole thing was a mistake and should never have happened", Giuliani told the Associated Press, adding that the Justice Department should acknowledge the error.

A second meeting, on Capitol Hill, was held with members of the "Gang of Eight", which includes the top leadership in the House and Senate plus the top Republicans and Democrats on the intelligence committees.
