Liverpool too slow to sign Nabil Fekir, says Lyon president

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed why he did not sell Nabil Fekir to Liverpool , and has confirmed that Real Madrid could now sign the France worldwide.

The France forward looking likely to sign for Liverpool before the World Cup begun earlier this month, but the deal fell apart late on.

Aulas added that Liverpool allegedly dragging their heels had opened the door to other clubs to try to sign Fekir, including European champions Real Madrid.

After seemingly missing out on Nabil Fekir, Liverpool are looking at alternatives.

However, a Saudi Arabia victory will make the final group game for them and Uruguay the determining factor for advancing. Muslera will also tie Ladislao Mazurkiewicz as the player to have made the most appearances for Uruguay at a World Cup.

'Nabil (Fékir) was supposed to join Liverpool, I gave the green light. Nabil is an exceptional player, he is on the map. the efficiency, to keep the ball, absolutely unique. It's true that because a move to Liverpool was not conclusive we sparked the interest of lots of other clubs and not just Real Madrid.

Aulas has now shed light on why Lyon took the decision to call off the move, accusing Liverpool of delaying the process. The fact that things didn't conclude with Liverpool and it didn't happen in that timeframe has peaked the interest of a lot of other clubs - Real Madrid, but not just Real Madrid and their new trainer.
