Andrew Lincoln Reveals the Reason Why He's Leaving 'The Walking Dead'

We know that Andrew Lincoln is leaving The Walking Dead in season 9, and we know why thanks to Lincoln telling EW it was to spend more time with his family.

"I have two young children, and I live in a different country, and they become less portable as they get older", he said. "Completing the show was like releasing air finally", he said. "It was time for me to come home".

What's rather interesting is that movies do film in England (Star Wars and Spider-Man: Far From Home, for example), which means Andrew Lincoln could stay in the United Kingdom while filming on The Walking Dead movie and still remain close to his family. Ahead of season 9, Lincoln reached his breaking point and realized that now was the time to part ways with The Walking Dead. And it was very satisfying the last two episodes in particular.

But Real's bid would give Chelsea another opportunity to get a sizeable fee for a player who only has two years left on his deal. Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain could also make the switch to London after Cristiano Ronaldo 's move to Juventus.

As The Walking Dead fans prepare to say goodbye to the man that's led AMC's zombie drama for its entire zeitgeist-creating run, they'll be able to look forward to a season aimed at giving Andrew Lincoln the best send-off he (or his mourning co-stars) could ask for. And we just really wanted to be respectful of that character and send him off in a great way.

As it turns out, The Walking Dead has never really been about Rick Grimes, but the people and the community he created.

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Austin Nichols, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Tom Payne, Austin Amelio, Xander Berkeley, Pollyanna McIntosh, Katelyn Nacon, and Lauren Ridloff.
