Brennan says Trump's claims of no collusion with Russian Federation are 'hogwash'


His comments come in the midst of an embroiled war of words between the two men after President Trump revoked Brennan's security clearance Wednesday due to the the former Central Intelligence Agency official being an outspoken critic of his.

Trump discussed his intention to revoke security clearances while speaking to reporters Friday before he left the White House for a fundraiser on Long Island.

In his op-ed, Brennan characterized Trump's action as "politically motivated" and said it was "an attempt to scare into silence others who might dare to challenge him". I suspect I'll be taking [his security clearance] away very quickly.

"On Wednesday, Trump cited "lying", frenzied commentary", and "erratic conduct" as reasons he'd revoked Brennan's security clearance.

Mr Trump on Wednesday openly tied his decision to strip Mr Brennan of his clearance - and threaten almost a dozen other former and current officials - to the ongoing investigation into Russian election meddling and possible collusion with his campaign.

The signees include six former CIA directors, five former deputy directors and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

On Friday, 60 former CIA officials issued their own statement, joining a chorus of opposition from the intelligence community to Trump's decisions to threaten to or actually pull clearances.

Putin told reporters in Helsinki, while standing next to Trump, that he had wanted the former NY businessman to win the White House.
