Bad news overnight for the Celtics and Jabari Bird.

The victim was being treated at a separate hospital for injuries sustained in the alleged assault.

Bird, selected by the Celtics with the 56th pick of the 2017 draft, spent his rookie season splitting time between Boston and the developmental G League on a two-way contract.

"He is expected to appear in Brighton District Court on Monday, where complaints will be sought against him", Sergeant John Boyle, a spokesman for the Boston Police Department, said.

Celtics president Danny Ainge declined to comment to multiple outlets this morning, though the team released a statement.

Bird, who was drafted past year, will appear in court Monday, where he will be officially charged.
