Warner Bros. has scheduled the untitled Joker movie for release on October 4, 2019. Director Todd Phillips has shared the first official look of Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, hot on the heels of several set videos and pictures being leaked online.
Though the film's plot is under wraps, the post suggests it will be an origin story that starts further back than we've ever seen The Joker on screen. The filmmaker in question this time being Todd Phillips, best known for the Hangover series. Whilst we don't yet know much about the movie, other than the fact it will deal with the Joker's origin, we have gotten our first glimpse at Joaquin Phoenix.
We're guessing this will be the name of Joker before he adopts his villainous title. But Phoenix seems to lend the rough-looking character some of his trademark mania - giving a performance worthy of the Oscar-nominated actor in the very brief on-set video.

In the comic book, Joker's given name is not disclosed, but he does have a career background as a chemical company engineer and an aspiring stand-up comedian. It is worth noting that this film will not be associated with the DC film universe.
