Josh Gordon is active and will make debut with Patriots

Then Patriots quarterback Tom Brady hit wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson on a 55-yard touchdown. And that's just for Gordon - never mind a stagnant Patriot "O" that totaled just 133 yards through the air in Week 3.

It did both Sunday, taking advantage of a Dolphins defense that couldn't seem to match the Patriots speed.

Belichick said the wide receiver, who played well Sunday in his Patriots debut, has been able to lean on his considerable National Football League experience as he learns New England's notoriously complex offense. The Patriots were unable to recover from their 10 point deficit before the Lions added six more points to the score with two field goals in the fourth quarter.

"I have no doubt I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity. I'm more than blessed and extremely grateful to be put in this scenario", Gordon said. Gordon caught two of two passes that came his way for 32 yards while unofficially playing 18 snaps.

If Gordon can prove to be a reliable threat for Tom Brady, it'll be more hard - and more costly - for defenses to give extra attention to Gronkowski. "He kind of got us going in certain areas. He's obviously played in a lot of systems with different coordinators and so forth, so I think one way or the other, he's probably experienced things that we're doing in one of those systems that he's been involved in".

"You see with guys that I've played with for a long time, it builds and builds and builds and what happens is you're able to make a lot of good plays and you basically eliminate all the bad plays", explained Brady.

Gordon impacted the game even when he wasn't being targeted.

In the 2nd quarter Gordon drew an illegal contact penalty which extended a drive which resulted in a touchdown.

With a big game against the Dolphins coming in Week 4, here are three players to watch for the New England Patriots. White was his most common target, catching eight passes for 68 yards including an incredible touchdown in which Brady delivered a high spiral toward the corner of the end zone as he was getting crushed by Robert Quinn. After that play, Brady made it a point to find Gordon and give him an extra pat or two, as if to fully accept him as a real option. "He's been rooting for me". "Tom [Brady] said it [after the game], 'It's a great feeling to be 2-2.' You don't come in expecting or wanting to be 2-2 to start the season, but I thought the way we just battled the whole week".

"It took a lot of effort and time and work put in studying", Gordon said. All around, just a concerted effort from the training staff and what I could do on my end and try to make it work. "But, it was an awesome experience and I really enjoyed it and a great opportunity".
