Jose Mourinho claims there is a 'manhunt' against him and his team

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has blasted a reported decision to sack Jose Mourinho as "an absolute disgrace".

Pochettino has also done excellently in developing the young players at Tottenham, something that the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Andreas Perriera could seriously benefit from at a crucial stage of their careers.

Neville will be at Old Trafford this weekend and he will be backing Mourinho. The Chilean was fielded on the right side against Valencia following a poor run of form this season, in which he is yet to score.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the board used a similar tactic to keep Mourinho on standby while Louis van Gaal fought for his job, with the Dutchman eventually being sacked after winning the FA Cup.

Juan Mata quickly replaced Eric Bailly, bizarrely placing Scott McTominay at centre-back with the Scotsman proceeding to struggle and being subbed off himself at half-time.

"I think, not just a better manager, but it makes me even a better person because I understand things in the human nature nowadays and in the industry where I work", Mourinho said. "For me, it's not easy too, but I think life is made of experiences and some are new and some are déjà vu, but this is new".

That was the first time in the Premier League era that United had conceded two goals, at home, in the opening ten minutes of a game.

Man United and Newcastle have played each other 166 times in history, of which the Red Devils have won 84 times while their North-East counterparts have come out on top on 42 occasions.

Manchester United's fixture list looks imposing.

United's attack did the defence no favours in the 50th minute, with Pogba denied by Newcastle Martin Dubravka from 25 yards despite a deflection and Matic missing the second chance, on an open net, by sending his attempt over the crossbar.

A failure to do so ahead of the Newcastle game could be viewed by Mourinho as evidence of a loss of faith and therefore a clear signal that his time is up at United. Only Huddersfield (4) have scored fewer goals than Newcastle (3) this season, and the Magpies are in fact the least creative team as things stand, having fashioned the fewest number of chances in the division this season so far (32).

"Because", Neville added, "if this is true and it's broken the day before it's going to happen and he's going to be sacked after the game or at the weekend it's an absolute disgrace".

"The last season was phenomenal exactly because of these two factors - our potential and the potential of our opponents".
