‘The Walking Dead’ Actor Scott Wilson Dead At Age 76


The actor's representative told TMZ Saturday that Wilson died at his Los Angeles home from complications of leukemia.

Actor Scott Wilson, known in recent years for his role on the TV series "The Walking Dead", has died at age 76.

"The Walking Dead" Twitter account released a statement saying, "Our thoughts are with his family and friends". Rest in paradise, Scott.

Tributes to the actor have began to flood in across social media, including from his Bosch co-star Titus Welliver.

Wilson, who was born in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States, got his first major acting role in the 1967 film In the Heat of the Night. With the man who has portrayed Rick Grimes since the very beginning of the AMC zombie apocalypse series leaving Walking Dead in the next few weeks, though no specific exit episode has been identified yet. That same year, he starred opposite Robert Blake in the film adaptation of Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood".

In the 1980 psychological drama The Ninth Configuration starring Stacy Keach, Wilson memorably played an ex-astronaut who had a nervous breakdown while in a capsule for a moon launch, which he then aborted, landing him in an asylum. More recently, Wilson appeared as President Fremont in Radio Free Albemuth and as Winston Cooke Sr.in Dorfman.

On the television side of things, Wilson popped up on shows like The Twilight Zone, The X-Files, Law & Order, Justified, Enlightened, and Damien. Wilson played the role of Hershel Greene in the show, but his character was discontinued after Season 4, wherein he was killed by the Governor.
