Iron Fist was part of Marvel's New York City-based Netflix universe, which also includes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Punisher and The Defenders.

Via Deadline, Netflix and Marvel released a joint announcement confirming Iron Fist's cancellation after two seasons.

Despite a vast improvement in its sophomore year, Iron Fist's run on Netflix is over. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners", Marvel and Netflix added. We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series.

News of the cancellation comes on the heels of a second season - which was released on September 7. "While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on", reps for Netflix and Marvel told IGN.

Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series starred Finn Jones as Danny Rand, a martial arts expert with a mystical power called the "Iron Fist". Another possibility would be to combine the characters from Iron Fist and Luke Cage into a Heroes for Hire series.

Danny Rand's days as a solo series lead are over. However, it may find a revival on another streaming service. The latter series is expected to get picked up for a third season "any day now".

The big question is will Kevin Feige give Iron Fist a shot at the new streaming service? Let us know in the comment section below!
