Karolina Pliskova sets up Tianjin final with Caroline Garcia

Top-seeded Karolina Pliskova will look for her second title of the WTA's Asian swing when she plays second-seeded Caroline Garcia of France in China's Tianjin Open final.

The two top seeds faced off in China but a tight opening set was followed by a dominant second from Garcia as she ran out a 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 victor, ending the tournament without dropping a set.

The 24-year-old Garcia - seeded second in Tianjin - enjoyed a breakthrough 2017, winning back-to-back titles in Wuhan and Beijing, and qualifying for the season-ending WTA Finals. Both players confidently held in the first set, with a single exception as Pliskova saved three break points in the fifth game. Garcia found herself with two set points during the remainder of the tiebreak, and completed her comeback in the breaker with a forehand volley victor, taking the set after a grueling 63 minutes. More aggressive, Garcia hit on the rise and managed to apply an increasing pressure from the baseline.

"It was pretty fast today.but she was a little bit exhausted because she had a long match yesterday". However, she was made to wait a little longer for her victory and secured the title with her sixth ace of the match.
