The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were jokingly thanked for bringing England's notoriously inclement weather to the drought-stricken Outback town.

In the afternoon, the duke and duchess visited Dubbo College.

The Duchess is visiting Government House, riding a tram, dining at a cafe and visiting schoolkids as part of the Melbourne leg of her Australian tour with Prince Harry for the 2018 Invictus Games.

"I was very concerned once he started rubbing Prince Harry's face and his hair, but Prince Harry was completely gracious and was so polite and realized what was happening and (Luke's) infatuation with his beard", van Dartel told Seven Network television.

The father-to-be also showed off how in-tune he is with Aussie culture, kicking off his speech with a hearty "g'day" and referencing our country's proudest inside joke.

"I have a lifelong interest in the story of food - where it comes from, why we embrace it and how it brings us together: The universal connection to community through the breaking of bread", Meghan wrote in the cookbook's foreword.

Instead, Harry and Meghan appeared to freestyle it by setting up an impromptu line-up so the schoolchildren could meet them one by one.

After the reception, the couple will visit a social enterprise café which offers leadership, mentoring and training programs for young Aboriginal people.

Meghan embraced a casual chic look, sporting J. Crew boots, Outland jeans and an oversized jacket from her friend Serena Williams' collection.

The former Suits actress also met mathematician, teacher and TV personality Eddie Woo, who offered some parenting advice to the mum-to-be. Proving that she's an excellent guest and would probably always keep in mind to bring a bottle of wine, plus something extra for the cheeseboard were we to ever have her round for dinner. "We're excited to join the club".

Harry and Meghan's baby news was shared by the palace on Monday, just hours after the royal couple touched down at Sydney Airport.
