Trump renews attacks on media as ‘the true Enemy of the People’

"This is a President who has risen to that occasion and works to bring our country together in a number of occasions, whether it's the hurricanes, whether it's the Las Vegas shooting, whether it was the Pittsburgh shooting", White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

It's the "fake news" media, he specified. "His daughter is a Jewish-American, and his son-in-law is the descendent of Holocaust survivors", Sanders said, becoming choked up with emotion.

Sanders doubled down that the first thing Trump did was condemn the "heinous acts", while the first thing the media did was blame Trump and his administration.

"President Trump was honoured by Prime Minister Modi's invitation for him to be chief guest of India's Republic Day on January 26, 2019 but is unable to participate due to scheduling constraints", a White House spokesperson told PTI on Monday, when asked about Trump's decision on Modi's invitation.

"I don't know why he thinks the Jews are responsible for all the ills in the world, but he's not the first and he won't be the last", Werber said. Sanders interrupted him. "Jim, I've given you three questions", she said bluntly. Jeff Meyers, the current rabbi at the Tree of Life synagogue, said that Trump is welcome to visit.

When Trump met with family members of the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting earlier this year, he was photographed clutching a notecard with handwritten prompts like "I hear you" and "What would you most want me to know about your experience?" - a signal, at minimum, that some aides anxious the usual signals of empathy may not come easily to him. "Our attention and our focus is going to be on them, and we don't have public safety that we can take away from what is needed in order to do both".

The White House did not immediately respond to the mayor's request.

And the move could also provoke a response from the U.S. government, given that it would exclusively target USA companies. For example, Amazon paid $2.2 million in United Kingdom taxes a year ago on revenues of $2.5 billion.

"Our Jewish community is not the only group you have targeted", the letter continues.

He said he called the "fake news media" the enemy of the people, not the media adding there is a very big difference and spreading false information is never good.

The mail bomb attacks and the bloodshed in Pittsburgh set off debate over whether the corrosive political climate in Washington and beyond contributed to the violence and whether Trump himself bears any blame because of his combative language. He is planning an aggressive campaign schedule during the final days leading up to the November 6 elections. On Twitter on Sunday, he savaged billionaire businessman Tom Steyer, another target of the mail bombs, as a "crazed & stumbling lunatic".

Throughout his Republican campaign and presidency, Trump has been an unrelenting critic of the media.

But Acosta continued his line of questioning: "So you're not going to state for the record then - I mean, if the president says the fake news media is the enemy of the people, and if you're going to stand there and continue to say there are some journalists, some news outlets in this country that meet that characterization, shouldn't you have the guts, Sarah, to state which outlets, which journalists, are the enemy of the people?"

It comes as CNN said yesterday another suspicious package addressed to the cable news network was intercepted at an Atlanta post office.
