Mary Lou Retton reveals secret divorce


Mary Lou Retton is still recovering emotionally after divorcing her husband of almost three decades earlier this year, she revealed Monday on Dancing With the Stars.

The 50-year-old gold medalist said the separation was "very hard" and that it still felt 'very new'.

She went on about her split, "In my mind I was like, 'I lost, I am a failure, ' and that's just not the case. People don't know that", Retton told her pro dancing partner Sasha Farber. "I felt very alone".

The former couple Wednesday in 1990, but only finalized the divorce in February of this year. "It's the first time I've actually said it publicly", the retired gymnast said on camera.

During last week's Disney night episode, Retton revealed how she connected to the Mulan song, "Reflection", that she and Farber danced to. "I was ready, I was prepared, I gave it my all, and I was confident, I found that confident woman I was looking for when I started this process".

She smiled, saying, "I don't know, we'll see". "There's that mental switch".
