The Portuguese forward is looking for his sixth Ballon d'Or title this year, the same as Lionel Messi, who hasn't won it since 2015, coming second in the past two years.

"The rivals? The same as usual, although I do not know if Messi will be on the podium this time", Ronaldo said.

He opened up on the experience when he spoke to The Players' Tribune alongside National Basketball Association star Steph Curry.

"With Messi, I learned every day, whether during practise, or playing with him, or just watching him play".
