NFL First: This Time, Cheerleader Takes a Knee

The national anthem protest went to a whole other level in the San Francisco 49ers' Thursday Night Game when a cheerleader chose to take a knee and join the protest.

Photos posted on Twitter showed the unidentified woman on her right knee before the game against the Oakland Raiders at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The move was popularized by former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who first kneeled during "The Star-Spangled Banner" in the third preseason game in the 2016 season in a bid to shed light to what he called was racial injustice in the United States, and police killings of African-Americans.

This may be a first for National Football League cheerleaders, but it's not for cheerleaders in general. A cheerleader took a knee during the pre-game anthem, and may be the first National Football League cheerleader to do so.

Todo comenzó a fines de la década de 1980, cuando Segale se encontraba en los Estados Unidos , más precisamente, en Washington . En 1993, Mario Segale hizo referencia a este relación con el personaje en una entrevista con el diario The Seattle Times.

The protests have been linked to declining viewership for the league.

This time, it was one of the team's cheerleaders, who was photographed kneeling for the anthem, several media outlets are reporting this morning.

It's unclear if the 49ers will take any action against the cheerleader. "And to witness these ill-informed students acting this way clearly tells me KSU needs to get busy educating these students on more than just passing their classes", Warren said.

"I would be frustrated about what's going on in the country, but I would put my thoughts and opinions to the side and keep on moving".
