France Football report that he has been in negotiations with Milan for weeks, and an agreement has almost been reached to replace Gennaro Gattuso as coach.

Without a team after leaving Arsenal at the end of last season, Wenger has been linked with various managerial positions which included Paris Saint-Germain but it seems the Milan brass want the Frenchman in to help improve their standing in the league after a subpar start.

The Frenchman has repeatedly insisted that he will not retire from management, and France Football claims that he is now on the verge of returning to the game with Milan.

Milan have had a highly inconsistent season so far under former midfielder Gattuso, but they now sit an impressive fourth on the Serie A ladder.

The father and son billionaires are understood to be Arsenal fans and are keen for Wenger to replace Gattuso at the helm.

If the move was to materalise, it would see Wenger reunite with Ivan Gazidis, who left Arsenal in September to become Milan's new Chief Executive.

He won the Premier League three times during his stay at the Emirates, winning the FA Cup as many as times in his 22-year long tenure at Arsenal.
