Donaire advances to the WBSS semifinal round and will next face Zolani Tete of South Africa, the WBO bantamweight champion, who won his quarterfinal fight against Mikhail Aloyan of Russian Federation last month.

Whether Nonito Donaire still wields lethal power will be known when he returns to the bantamweight division against Irish champion Ryan Burnett on Saturday, November 3 (Sunday, November 4, Manila time), in the World Boxing Super Series at SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. In round four, Burnett suffered a back injury and took a knee. He has 25 wins by knockouts.

Burnett enjoyed plenty of early success with his whip-like left jab and appeared to take the first two rounds thanks to that jab and some clever one-two combinations, which kept Donaire from finding his rhythm.

After his latest win, Mr. Donaire, a multiple-division world champion, thanked his supporters while also expressing hope for the fast recovery of Mr. Burnett, who saw his three-fight winning streak come to an end and his reign as champion halted after three title defenses.

Sri Lanka coach Zoysa charged with match-fixing
Zoysa, who played 30 tests and 95 one-day internationals for Sri Lanka between 1999-2007, has two weeks to respond to the charges. Sanath Jayasuriya , the former captain and selector, was charged with two counts of breaching the ICC's anti-corruption code...

While Donaire is no longer in his peak, he remains a livewire foe for an up-and-comer like the 26-year-old Burnett. "I know he'll heal up and be back in the ring soon", he added.

In a lovely show of sportsmanship, Donaire quickly rushed to Burnett's corner and shared his condolences with Burnett and his corner.

Other results saw Inoue stop Jua Carlos Parayano on October 7 and Tete win by decision over Mikhail Aloyan on October 17. "Early on he just kept coming at me", said Donaire after the fight. Rodriguez is slated to clash with Australian Jason Moloney next.
