Injuries to key players have been a big problem for the Washington Redskins this season and against the Houston Texans on Sunday, that trend continued.

Smith's injury prompted an immediate reaction from former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann, whose National Football League career ended after he broke his leg while being sacked by New York Giants linebackers Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson during a game.

Smith was sacked by J.J. Watt and Kareem Jackson and remained down on the ground in visible pain. But be warned, it is gruesome.

Many thought it looked like the injury Joe Theismann suffered on this exact date in 1985. The NFL Hall of Fame quarterback agreed.

Smith was immediately replaced by Colt McCoy under center.

Smith covered his face with both hands, then a towel, as he was checked by medical personnel on the field.

The Redskins didn't waste any time providing an update on the injured QB.
