The theme for this year is Know Your Status.

Staying with World Aids Day, we now cross to our reporter, Lerato Thipa in Port Elizabeth at the provincial World Aids Day commemorations.

If I win a close fight I'll class it as a loss because it's not enough for me. I see fear in Deontay Wilder , I could sense his heartbeat through his suit.

"I wanted to be able to stand here in this place and say to those who are living with HIV that their status does not define them", said Russell-Moyle, who has been an MP since 2017. South Africa is known to be one of the African countries with a high prevalence rate of the disease. On the 30th anniversary of World Aids Day, Cathy Newman spoke to three people who've been HIV positive for decades. "People who test positive for HIV should be linked immediately to antiretroviral therapy to keep them alive and well and, when viral load suppression is reached, prevent transmission of the virus".

The day is dedicated to showing support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who've died from an AIDS-related illness.
