Yankees break out the brass for Patrick Corbin's Bronx visit

This should give the Yankees an advantage in the chase for one of the winter's top free agents.

They've had only three starts from a left-hander since the end of the 2016 season.

When the 2018-2019 Major League Baseball offseason finally comes to an end, Patrick Corbin and Dallas Keuchel will likely have received the most lucrative contracts of any starting pitchers in free agency. Corbin was among the list of players mentioned in the report.

CC Sabathia was at the Stadium rehabbing his surgically repaired knee and bumped into Corbin, with the two lefty starters exchanging hellos.

The last time that the Phillies finished a season above.500 was following the 2011 season. This past week, Corbin has been making the rounds, meeting with the Washington Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. They haven't been linked to many big free agent hitters, other than Machado. Corbin might be on the same level as someone like Nathan Eovaldi, but Eovaldi has only just pitched his first season back from Tommy John surgery.

Corbin was a Yankees fan when he was growing up, so he would love to play for the Yankees. Keuchel had a 3.74 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP and 153 strikeouts in 204.2 innings with the Houston Astros. Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka and CC Sabathia are all set to return to NY next season.

Corbin is hands down the top available pitcher available this offseason and Philly will have competition for his services. Corbin, who also underwent the procedure, is almost five years removed from Tommy John. It's highly likely that he'll land somewhere in the nine-digit range over multiple seasons.
