He will be laid to rest alongside Barbara Bush, his wife of 73 years who died in April, and Robin Bush, the daughter who died of leukemia at age 3.

Memorial services began Monday to honor the late President George H.W. Bush.

The motorcade carrying his casket from the funeral home arrived Monday at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base outside Houston along a road lined with hundreds of onlookers. Mayor Sylvester Turner has urged attendees to wear colorful socks, a nod to the former president's fondness for sporting loud socks often emblazoned with unusual patterns during public events. A funeral service will also be held at the Washington National Cathedral before Bush will be flown back to Texas to be buried.

President Bush's body will lie in repose at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Houston, Texas. An invitation-only funeral service is set for Wednesday at Washington National Cathedral, to be attended by President Donald Trump and other dignitaries.

Thursday, Dec. 6, 11 a.m. After the hour-long service, a motorcade will transport Bush's casket to a train station north of Houston, near the global airport named after Bush.

The president's body will be interred at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum.

Dana Carvey, who impersonated Bush on the sketch comedy show from 1986 through 1993, had his work seemingly cut out for him, considering his subject didn't have the larger-than-life or scandalous attributions that would make lampooning easy.

Jim McGrath, spokesman for the Bush family, tweeted out a photo on Sunday night, captioning it "mission complete".

The casket will then be transported by Union Pacific Railroad to Texas A&M in College Station for burial on Thursday. He died Friday in Houston at age 94.
