As part the WAD 30th anniversary, panels from the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt were displayed at St George's Hall throughout the day to commemorate the worldwide movement that sought to raise awareness of the impact of the AIDS epidemic and to ensure those lives were not to be forgotten. Among those who are HIV infected, knowledge of their status allows them to take action to protect their sexual partners, access treatment, and plan for the future.

It's an opportunity to recommit to the global fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to remember those who have died from AIDS or AIDS-related illnesses.

"PrEP is a good option for anyone who wants protection from HIV for whatever reason", O'Laughlin said.

"In line with the theme, we will also launch and promote HIV Self Testing services to help encourage people to know their HIV status". "In 2017, 9.4 million people did not know they were living with HIV".

"Unfortunately, we know that there are still people who are considered high risk within our communities who have yet to been tested".

The UNAIDS 90-90-90 initiative states that by 2020, 90 percent of all people living with HIV will know their status, 90 percent of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy and 90 percent of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

The regional director said that HIV testing remained essential in expanding treatment and ensuring that all people living with the disease could live healthy and productive lives.

PEPFAR's activities included training for health journalists reporting on HIV, radio interviews and outreaches at health facilities, markets and school, where voluntary counselling and testing were done. We also have to build strong linkages to guarantee HIV prevention, care and treatment services after testing. "Our HIV Clinic offers non-discriminatory, confidential and comprehensive services to clients from throughout the state".

World Health Organization said that the improved funding support would ensure all citizens get access to the services they need to live productive lives.
