BCCI Officials Target CoA Chief Vinod Rai on Women’s Coach Fracas

Kaur backed her defense of the seemingly-outgoing coach by stating Powar's involvement was imperative with the next edition of the T20 World Cup only 15 months away. The way he has transformed us as a team, I feel no reason to replace him with any better at this point of time when the team is coordinating well with him and amongst each other.

Discussing the improvement in the team under Powar, Harmanpreet said: "Our team has gone under positive changes in the past few months and has set a benchmark in the world top teams".

Sir Ramesh Powar not only improved us as players but also did motivate us to set targets and challenge our own limits.

Shortly after India's semifinal exit, Mithali wrote a scathing letter, addressed to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and general manager Saba Karim, mentioning that her exclusion from the semifinal match against England was "baffling and hurtful" and that her main issue was with the coach who was indifferent to her.

"I as the T20 captain and one-day vice-captain, is appealing before you to allow Ramesh Powar to further continue as our team coach".

In his defence, Powar, in a ten-page report entirely focused on Mithali, had stated that ODI captain blackmailed to retire midway through the ICC Women's World T20 in the West Indies after being denied the opening slot. "He has inculcated in us the sense of winning", she added.

"Our defeat in the semi-finals was very disheartening and it brings us all to feel more miserable to see how the controversies has stained our image and questioned the entire cricket fraternity", Harmanpreet said.

Canada's Jamal Murray leads Denver to 106-103 win over Toronto Raptors
Toronto's bad three-point shooting continued in the second - Miles connected on the only one of 10 that fell for the Raptors. Jokic replied with a hook shot, then on Toronto's final frantic possession, Danny Green missed on two three-point attempts.

The situation involving Powar and Mithali flared up when Powar admitted that his professional relationship with Mithali was strained as he always found her aloof and hard to handle.

Committee of Administrators (COA) chairman Vinod Rai told PTI that Harmanpreet and Smriti have backed Powar to continue as coach till 2021. "Keeping in mind the need of the hour, me, Smriti, selector Sudha Shah and the coach together in the presence of our manager felt that we should go ahead with the winning combination", Harmanpreet wrote.

If one reads between the lines of Harmanpreet and Smriti's near-identical letters, the duo has not only sided with Powar, but also indirectly indicated that the veteran isn't welcome, at least in India's T20 change room.

"The decision was entirely based on cricketing logic and observations from the past". My commitment to the game & 20yrs of playing for my country, the hard work, sweat, in vain. "May god give strength". The report included Powar's observation of each member of the team, with nearly half of it reserved for Mithali.

Now, T20 skipper Harmanpreet has written an email to the BCCI saying that Powar should be allowed to continue as head coach of the women's team as he has brought in a necessary change of mentality within the dressing room. However, Gupta deleted the tweets later after the confirmation.

The scenario regarding the women's cricket team coaching has been dodgy.

Powar countered every charge levelled against him by Mithali and made some startling revelations about the senior most player in the women's cricket team.
