Of late, after another group filed a PIL seeking a ban on the film, taking objection to its content for affecting the sentiments of Hindus, the Gujarat High Court chose to take strict action, albeit against the organization.

Kedarnath, starring Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, is a love story set against the backdrop of catastrophic floods that had nearly destroyed the town in 2014. District Magistrate Nainital Vinod Kr Suman announced the ban on Friday in Haridwar, Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar district. Till then, the petitioners have demanded a stay on the release of the film throughout the state. Ever since the trailer and teaser of Kedarnath hit the web, priests from the shrine-town have been wildly protesting against the film, saying that it is a case of "love-jihad", as the two lead characters are Hindu and Muslim, who fall in love.

Posteriormente, fue acompañada por su pareja al hospital y la estación de policía, y Ward fue arrestado esa noche. Ella se fue al baño y cuando regresó, notó que en la cama no estaba su pareja sino uno de sus amigos, Grant.

Set against the backdrop of 2013 Uttarakhand floods, the Abhishek Kapoor directorial shows an upper-class Hindu girl falling in love with a Muslim pitthu (tour guide).

The chairman added that the priests were also protesting against the film as there "vulgar dance sequences" being shot around the shrine. While tweeting his discontent, he said that protests had begun in Rudraprayag and Kotdwar. "Kedarnath" has been at the centre of political controversies since the teaser of the movie was released nearly two months back. Ajay said, "The movie appears to be an effort to promote love jihad. Also, kissing and romantic scenes in a holy place worshipped by crores of people is a sign of disrespect to the religion". Made under the banners of RSVP Movies and Guy in the Sky Pictures, Kedarnath stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Sara Ali Khan, Nitish Bharadwaj, Alka Amin, Sonali Sachdev and Pooja Gor.
