Chelsea Open Talks With Real Madrid To Sign Matteo Kovacic Permanently

Real Madrid have reportedly have reached an agreement with Eden Hazard that would see the Chelsea superstar trade Stamford Bridge for the Bernabeu at the end of the current season.

Should that happen, the Blues hope Hazard will follow Antoine Griezmann's example and remain at the club to see them through that period.

Hazard has frequently spoken of his desire to one day play for Madrid, notably doing so earlier this season in an interview in which he admitted he would also happily extend his contract at Chelsea, where he feels settled, is a fan idol, and has a club board desperate to persuade him to renew. Now on loan in West London from Los Blancos, Kovacic doesn't want to return to the Bernabéu when his temporary Chelsea deal ends in the summer, and the six-time English champions would like the Croatian midfielder to stay on.

Hazard has established himself as a leader in the Chelsea FC team following his move to Stamford Bridge from Lille in a big-money deal in the 2012 summer transfer window.

Manager Maurizio Sarri addressed the issue this week, stating that they are ready to "immediately" agree a new deal.

"When Eden Hazard is on it, I do not believe there is a defender in world football who could live with him", the Arsenal legend added. "I can't remember him having that a lot in his career".

Long-term Chelsea target Daniele Rugani is poised to sign a new contract at Juventus.

"But I think some of the players deserve more to be captain than me".

"I want what's good for me, but I want what's good for the club because the club has given me everything".
