The teen had been missing for nearly three months when she was found on a deserted backroad in Gordon, Wisconsin, after being kidnapped by Jake Patterson, 21. But investigators have ruled it out as a link, labelling it as being too tenuous.

"That there is a potential of somebody out there who commits acts of violence and takes your children".

In the tiny town of Gordon, Wisconsin, with a population of just over 600, where "everybody knows everybody", it seems nobody knew Patterson.

For the past couple of months the community of Barron and beyond has been praying for a safe return of 13-year-old Jayme Closs.

He is believed to have been unemployed and didn't attend any of the local businesses with enough frequency for anyone to recognise him.

The double-storey house had a trampoline in the backyard and a disused boat covered in tarps in the yard.

He reportedly hadn't been in contact with anybody in his family for many years.

- Over the past several days, a lot of attention has been on the town of Gordon, Wisc. where Jayme Closs was found after 88 days missing. The sheriff added that he didn't know who owned the property.

"Now they know their Jayme, [who] was their whole world, is home with family".

Jayme was taken to a hospital in Minnesota after she was found, her aunt, Sue Allard, said. "I want Jayme to be able to draw the line in the sand and be at that line starting forward today and if I could wish anything on her it's that she'd never have to go back through this again ever". "She did not go into detail about how she got out of the house or anything like that".

He has no criminal history in Wisconsin.

When deputies arrested him, he was out looking for Jayme, Fitzgerald said.

The adults knew Closs's accused captor also is believed to have killed the girl's parents - so they weren't about to take any chances, they said. She begged the woman for help, saying Patterson had been hiding her in a nearby cabin and that she had escaped when he left her alone.

Jayme's grandfather, Robert Naiberg, said that considering the circumstances, the teen is holding up.

Charging documents in Wisconsin typically contain at least a partial narrative of what happened at a crime scene, as prosecutors try to prove there's probable cause to support the allegations.

Patterson's attorneys, Charles Glynn and Richard Jones, said in a statement they consider the situation "very tragic" and are relying on the court system to treat their client fairly.

"There doesn't appear to be any connection between Mr Patterson and the Closs family at all", said Barron County Sherriff Christ Fitzgerald in a CNN interview. Nutter said Jayme did not have a coat or gloves.
