The Favourite tipped for Critics' Choice Award glory

The Favourite, which marked Dublin-based production company Element Pictures' third collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos following on from The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, is nominated for 14 Critics' Choice Awards. "Maisel" won the top comedy honor for the second year in a row, and series star Rachel Brosnahan also was a repeat victor for best actress in a comedy series. Last year, The Shape of Water snagged Best Picture. When it comes to the film awards, the Critics' Choice Award is often a reliable predictor for Academy Award nominations and as several of the films nominated for the Critics' Choice Award are already on many short lists for the Oscar nod - specifically First Man, Ready Player One, Mary Poppins Returns, and Black Panther. Or will the victor be Roma or Black Panther?
