Mourinho praised Petr Cech while saying he is a "Fantastic professional and goalkeeper with incredible potential".

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has announced that he will retire from football at the end of this season.

The 36-year-old joined Arsenal in June 2015 from the club's London rivals Chelsea, where he spent 11 years.

The current Arsenal 'keeper was an integral cog in Mourinho's XI during the duo's time together at Stamford Bridge, and the Portuguese has now paid homage to his former No 1 in the wake of his announcement.

Petr Cech is an all-time Premier League great, there are no two ways about it. Age might have caught up to him in recent season but no 'keeper has been consistently good as Cech was for nearly a decade. All about his numbers, his performances, his clean sheets, his titles and his professionalism. Think it's safe to say his time at Chelsea was more fruitful.

"It's a big loss for football but history can't be deleted".

While Shayok was just 1 of 7 in the second half, he hit two free throws for a four-point lead with six seconds left. He had 10 points and eight rebounds in the second half, but struggled at the free-throw line where he was 5-for-10.

It has been reported that Cech, who lives near the club's training facilities in Cobham, Surrey, could be offered either a coaching or ambassadorial role.

"When he announced he was retiring I was like "wow, you could have another three or four years the way that you're playing".

'Having played 15 years in the Premier League and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve, ' said the ex-Czech Republic worldwide.

Many years ago Brian Clough said I was worth 15 points a season to Nottingham Forest.

He said "The goalkeeper was Carlo Cudicini - the season before he was elected the player of the season - and the first game of the season was Chelsea against Manchester United and I made a decision to leave out our player of the season before, and play a kid that nobody would know how to even say his name because Petr Cech was quite hard to say", and added "After that everything was about him. We look forward to you helping us to an exciting finish to this season and wish you well for the future".
