'The Crown' season 4 casts Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher

Anderson won a Golden Globe for her role in The X-Files and is also known for the British crime series The Fall.

The Crown has found its Margaret Thatcher, casting actress Gillian Anderson in the role of the former British Prime Minister.

Streep's performance is now considered the yard-stick for portraying Mrs Thatcher on screen, though Andrea Riseborough (in The Long Walk to Finchley) and Patricia Hodge (in The Falklands Play) have both won acclaim for their own depictions.

The Crown season 3 hasn't even hit Netflix yet, but it looks like the streaming service is already making preparations for the next chapter of the series.
